Casper Premium Roofing provides professional roof ventilation in Casper, WY for residential and commercial properties across central Wyoming. Ventilation is designed differently in a place with constant wind, and most of the standard advice needs adjusting before it applies to a Casper attic. The physics is the same everywhere; what changes is how often the wind is pushing on the vent.
Start with what we recommend against. Turbine vents, the spinning ones, are popular and we do not install them here as a primary exhaust. Moving parts on a roof that sees wind nearly every day of the year eventually seize, wobble or leak at the base, and a seized turbine is just an opening. Powered fans have a similar problem and add a failure point for no benefit on a well-designed passive system.
We use externally baffled ridge vent instead. The baffle is not a marketing feature in this market. It deflects wind up and over the vent opening, creating suction that pulls air out, and without it a strong wind blowing across a ridge can drive air, dust and fine snow back down into the vent. Unbaffled ridge vent is cheaper and we have pulled a lot of it off Casper roofs with dust trails in the insulation underneath.
Intake is the half that gets skipped. Exhaust without matching soffit intake has to find make-up air somewhere, and it takes it through ceiling penetrations from the heated rooms below. In a climate zone 6B winter that moves household moisture straight into the attic. We check that intake is actually open, because insulation packed into the eave is what we find most often, and none of it shows from the ground.
Balance is the specification. Roughly equal net free intake and exhaust area, intake low, exhaust high, and no mixing of exhaust types on the same attic space. Put ridge vent and gable vents on one attic and the ridge simply draws from the gable instead of the soffit. That short-circuits the path and the far end sees nothing. If you have both, we will usually recommend closing the gable vents rather than removing the ridge.
Get this right and shingles run cooler, the deck stays dry, and the covering reaches its rated life. Get it wrong and you have condensation on the sheathing in January, which shows up as staining that people mistake for a leak. We have been called out to that leak many times and found nothing wrong with the roof at all. We check intake from inside the attic on every ventilation quote.
Our licensed and insured team brings the right materials and equipment to every job — nail-hole elongation checks at the fastener line, ASTM D7158 and D3161 wind-resistance ratings, hand-sealed shingle tabs at rakes and eaves, mechanically seamed standing-seam panels, concealed-clip metal panel assemblies, continuous-cleat drip edge and rake metal — and backs the work with a written workmanship warranty. We serve Casper and nearby communities including Mills, Bar Nunn, Evansville, Vista West.

Materials, equipment and how we do roof ventilation
The difference between roof ventilation that lasts and roof ventilation that gets redone in three years is almost always preparation and materials, not the finish you see on day one. We work with nail-hole elongation checks at the fastener line, ASTM D7158 and D3161 wind-resistance ratings, hand-sealed shingle tabs at rakes and eaves, mechanically seamed standing-seam panels, spec them to the job instead of to the invoice, and write the material grades into the free estimate so you know exactly what you are buying.
Every Casper job runs the same way: site walk and measurements, written scope and fixed price, protection of the surrounding area, then the work itself with a daily clean-up. Years of roofing work in central Wyoming means we have already met whatever your property is going to throw at us — awkward access, older construction, an HOA with opinions.

Why Casper Chooses Casper Premium Roofing
- ✓We specify for duration rather than peak. Casper's design gust is 115 miles per hour and most roofs meet it easily; what retires them is the number of hours a year spent under load.
- ✓Six-nail fastening in the manufacturer's nailing zone is standard on our work, not an upgrade line, and we drive flush rather than overdriving through the shingle mat.
- ✓We hand-seal tabs at rakes, eaves, hips and ridge on every cold-season installation instead of waiting for solar sealing to happen on its own schedule.
- ✓Edge metal goes on a continuous cleat so there is no free hem for wind to catch, on both steep-slope and low-slope roofs, because perimeters are where failures start.
The standards behind roof ventilation
Quality here is not a matter of opinion — it is written down. The roof ventilation work we do in Casper follows published industry standards: NRCA publishes the Roofing Manual, the industry's reference for details and slope minimums, and Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association sets the shingle application and ventilation guidance the warranties reference. If a contractor cannot tell you which standard a detail comes from, that is worth asking about before you sign.
Every roof ventilation project in Casper gets the same attention, whether it is a single room or a full commercial job. We show up on schedule, keep the site clean, and stand behind the work — the estimate is free and there is no pressure.
